Tonight I went dancing at Synergy Dance Zone in San Diego. I had been there before to dance and every time I have gone I have always enjoyed myself. The atmosphere is friendly and the studio's claim to fame is the most friendly dance studio and the staff and owner Peter Edwards live up to that reputation.
It is quite a bargain for a night of pizza. chips, great people to dance with and an awesome music playlist. The cost to dance the night away is $5 and for students it's only $3. The owner whom I have known all my life is a great dancer who teaches and coaches the UCSD ballroom team and is a super cool guy that always takes the time to make you feel welcome at his studio.
Each month they showcase a specific dance and each Friday there is a dance lesson before the dance party. This month the dance lesson is on the Waltz. Tonight Peter taught us how to do a regular box step and incorporate a turn into it.
Throughout the night the music changes from Waltz, Foxtrot,Tango,ChaCha, Rumba, Hustle, Night club 2 step, Salsa, Merengue and Swing. Talk about a huge variety and their are also all levels of dancers there from beginners to pro dancers and you can dance with all of them because they are so friendly.
They also offer classes throughout the week and also have private lessons which I want to take in the future. This is the place to come if you want to dance in a classy fun cool atmosphere
I am going to make sure I make it there for each Friday night party.
If you have ever wanted to take up dancing as a hobby I would highly recommend it because it is great exercise and a lot of fun. If you do decide you want to get serious with dancing you will want to buy some dancing shoes and you can find some good deals on amazon and ebay.
Good luck and happy dancing.
